In this very special episode of 1337 Wine TV, Mark returns to Pedernales Cellars in Stonewall, TX (about 15-20 minutes east of Fredericksburg). I visited there back in December of 2012 for Episode #266. I thought it would be nice to go back to the winery to celebrate 400 episodes. I sit down with Julie and David to discuss what’s happened since I’ve been there including their other label Armadillo’s Leap. We also taste three Pedernales wines. First is the 2016 Pedernales Cellars Cinco, then the 2015 Pedernales Cellars Texas Hill Country Tempranillo, and finally the Pedernales Cellars Family Reserve. In this special episode of 1337 Wine TV, Mark sits down with Edouard Parniet of Chateau du Moulin-a-Vent in the Moulin-a-Vent appellation of Beaujolais. This is the last interview from Mark’s trip to Burgundy. It was a great way to end his trip with a chateau in the shadow of the famed windmill.

In this episode of 1337 Wine TV, Mark visits what is considered one of the top wineries in Chablis, William Fèvre. Nicholas Thomson, Assistant Commercial Sales Assistant, was kind enough to spend a couple hours of his afternoon to take me on a tour of the winery and taste a few of the wines. I was able to talk to him about some of the Grand Cru vineyards I explored that morning also.
In this episode of 1337 Wine TV, Mark interviews Cécile Blanchardon, Chargée de Relations Extérieures at Bouchard Père & Fils. She was kind enough to take me on a tour of the cellars in the Fortress including the “inner sanctum” of their oldest wines. We tasted through several reds before getting the camera rolling to taste a selection of white wines.
In this episode of 1337 Wine TV, Mark does his third trial of tasting a wine under the Coravin Cap versus the same wine freshly opened. I’m still experiencing issues with importing video into Final Cut Pro X. I have yet to find a fix or work-around that solves it. I did find one that seemed to minimize the issue, but it still shows the glitches. It’s an Apple issue and not a user issue. Hopefully Apple will release a fix soon.

Second is the Non-Vintage Voveti Prosecco. Last is the Non-Vintage Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Reserve. I apologize for the video glitches. While importing the video file into the editing software I use (Final Cut Pro X), something happened to the file. I’ve re-imported it and it still has the same glitches in the same places. The raw file is clean.
