Re-Visiting Pedernales Cellars – Episode #400!!!!

In this very special episode of 1337 Wine TV, Mark returns to Pedernales Cellars in Stonewall, TX (about 15-20 minutes east of Fredericksburg). I visited there back in December of 2012 for Episode #266. I thought it would be nice to go back to the winery to celebrate 400 episodes. I sit down with Julie and David to discuss what’s happened since I’ve been there including their other label Armadillo’s Leap. We also taste three Pedernales wines. First is the 2016 Pedernales Cellars Cinco, then the 2015 Pedernales Cellars Texas Hill Country Tempranillo, and finally the Pedernales Cellars Family Reserve. I want to thank crew at Pedernales for all their hospitality and support of the years. If you’re ever in Texas (or better yet you live here), then do yourself a favor and visit them. Make sure to stop by the Armadillo’s Leap/Pedernales Cellars Tasting Room in Fredericksburg too!

Visiting William Fevre – Episode #397

In this episode of 1337 Wine TV, Mark visits what is considered one of the top wineries in Chablis, William Fèvre. Nicholas Thomson, Assistant Commercial Sales Assistant, was kind enough to spend a couple hours of his afternoon to take me on a tour of the winery and taste a few of the wines. I was able to talk to him about some of the Grand Cru vineyards I explored that morning also.

GruVee Caps Part 4 – Episode #395

In this episode of 1337 Wine TV, Mark does his third trial of tasting a wine under the Coravin Cap versus the same wine freshly opened. I’m still experiencing issues with importing video into Final Cut Pro X. I have yet to find a fix or work-around that solves it. I did find one that seemed to minimize the issue, but it still shows the glitches. It’s an Apple issue and not a user issue. Hopefully Apple will release a fix soon.

2017 New Year’s Eve Special – Episode #394

In this episode of 1337 Wine TV, Mark reviews 3 sparkling wines you might use for a New Year’s Eve celebration. First is the Non-Vintage J. Roget Brut American Champagne. Second is the Non-Vintage Voveti Prosecco. Last is the Non-Vintage Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Reserve. I apologize for the video glitches. While importing the video file into the editing software I use (Final Cut Pro X), something happened to the file. I’ve re-imported it and it still has the same glitches in the same places. The raw file is clean.

2017 Christmas Special – Episode #393

In this special episode of 1337 Wine TV, Mark reviews the 2nd half of the SommSelect Thanksgiving 6-pack he bought as suggestions for Christmas. First is the Non-Vintage Andre Clouet Brut Grand Reserve Champagne. Second is the 2013 St. Innocent Freedom Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir. The last wine is the 2014 Poderi Colla “Drago” Nebbiolo d’Alba.

Visiting Domaine Fernand et Laurent Pillot – Episode #392

In this episode of 1337 Wine TV, Mark sits down with Laurent Pillot of Domaine Fernand et Laurent Pillot. The Doamine is in the Chassagne-Montrachet AOP. During the interview they sample two of the wines from the Domaine. The first being the 2015 Domaine Fernand et Laurent Pillot “Le Chene” Chassagne-Montrachet. The second wine is the 2015 Domaine Fernand et Laurent Pillot “Le Vergers” 1er Cru Chassagne-Montrachet.

Visiting Domaine Antonin Guyon – Episode #390

In this episode of 1337 Wine TV, Mark visits Domaine Antonin Guyon in Savigny-les-Beaune. He sits down with Hombeline Guyon daughter of Dominique Guyon. Hombeline was a gracious host and showed me around the facilities. She even had me taste a great selection of wines in the cellar. Since it was pretty dark down there, and I don’t bring my lights on these kinds of trips, we went to her office for the interview. We had to make a fairly short interview as the time allotted for my visit was almost up. I appreciate all the time Hombeline gave to me for a truly educational visit. Afterwards I spent some time at the Hill of Corton where Guyon has a few vineyards. I’ve included pictures of the area in our interview.
